Understanding autism changes everything.

Practical autism, SEND and neurodiversity training — tailored to the people in an autistic child's life.

Autism is a spectrum — its impact varies enormously, and even the fundamentals are often misunderstood.

The Viaduct draws on its multi-disciplinary team and research to offer training that's practical, credible and tailored to who you are and what you need.

The knowledge we build transfers to all neurodivergent children — not just those who come to us.

Which is why training is one of the ways our impact reaches furthest.

Training · frequently asked questions

Who we train, and how it works.

Who is The Viaduct's training for?

The Viaduct trains everyone around an autistic child, as well as autistic people themselves: parents and carers; education professionals; health and social care professionals; and equestrian professionals developing skills in equine-assisted approaches. Autism is a spectrum condition whose fundamentals are still widely misunderstood — our training exists to fix that, audience by audience.

What does the parent and carer training cover?

A holistic package: understanding autism itself, practical support skills, and resources you can actually use at home. It's built by people who have lived it, not just studied it — and it's designed to leave you more confident, more equipped, and less alone. Course dates are announced on this page — or register your interest and we'll tell you when the next one opens.

Do you offer training for autistic people themselves?

Yes — training focused on understanding your own autism and developing life-enhancing strategies, built around the same respect that runs through everything here: autism isn't a deficit to be corrected, and the goal is a life that works for you, not a mask that pleases others.

What training do you offer schools and education professionals?

Training that transfers working knowledge: understanding autistic pupils, practical classroom strategies, and — a particular specialism — supporting transitions. Our transition training equips staff and parents across the whole arc of a move between settings: preparing the ground, supporting the early weeks, and consolidating once the child is established. It applies to all neurodivergent children, not only autistic pupils.

What about equestrian professionals?

The Viaduct's facilities and team make it a natural training ground for practitioners in equine-assisted approaches, with multiple arenas including an all-weather indoor arena. Our practitioner programme is taking shape — register your interest and we'll tell you what's coming.

Why train at The Viaduct rather than online?

Because context teaches. Training here happens on a working site — the arenas, animals, education spaces and calm-by-design environment aren't a slideshow; they're around you. Some things transfer through a screen; the feel of this place isn't one of them.

How do we book training or discuss something bespoke?

Enquire directly and tell us who needs training and why. We'll tell you what's coming up, and we can shape bespoke sessions for schools, services and teams — including delivery at your own setting.
