  1901
Victoria Park was leased from the Harbour Board after it had been reclaimed. 31st May - Grand Hotel burnt down resulting in the death of 5 people.

1902
There was only one paved street in Auckland in 1902.
24th November The electric Tram was inaugurated; by 1921 there was 27 miles of tramlines in Auckland.

1908
The first supply of power was given to the city from Freemans Bay. The construction of the Town Hall began and was finished in 1911.
9th August "Fleet Week" was when the USA navy visited Auckland, there was a huge celebration and it estimated 100,000 were in town. The town was decorated and electricity was used to illumination for the first time.
6th November the first train rolled into town from Wellington
